About Practice Groups

Conflict resolution practitioners encourage understanding and bridge boundaries. Yet many work alone, with few opportunities to share their questions, frustrations, and ideas with colleagues. ACR-GNY promotes learning and dialogue within the ADR community to provide more support. ACR-GNY series for Commercial/Employment Mediators and Family/Community Mediation Practice Groups are quarterly confidential meetings where mediators can come together to exchange puzzling moments and share honest feedback with one another.

Practice Groups are free for ACR-GNY members and open to nonmembers for $20. Scholarships are available. Registration is limited to ensure each attendee receives individualized attention and time to ask questions and engage in meaningful conversation.

Getting Good at Conflict | A Learning & Practice Session

You are invited to join in on an interactive 90 minute session to learn and practice core mediator skills that will help you get good at responding to conflict in any context. In this session you will be introduced to:

    • The loop of understanding - an active listening skill used by mediators
    • A lens through which you can start to disentangle the complexity of conflict
    • Reframing - a practice to reduce confusion and help clarify what people really need in conflict

This session is geared toward students and emerging conflict resolution professionals, but all are welcome!
