Professional Bio
Donald Rose is a full time, independent mediator, arbitrator and dispute prevention professional. Don is a licensed attorney, a Fellow in the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a CEDR Accredited Mediator, a member of the Panel of Distinguished Neutrals of International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR), an American Arbitration Association Commercial mediator and arbitrator, and a mediator and arbitrator serving on ADR panels for the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the New York State Supreme Courts, 1st and 9th Judicial Districts. Don is also a CPR certified Dispute Prevention and Relationship Facilitator. He is an active member of the NYSBA Member Dispute Resolution Section’s Ethics and Domestic Arbitration Committees, and an equally active CPR member, serving on its Arbitration, Mediation and Conflict Prevention Committees. Don also serves on the USDC SDNY Mediation Advisory Committee (2025-2027 term) and is a Member of the American Bar Association Dispute Resolution Section.
Since forming Donald Rose Dispute Resolution LLC (DRDR) in 2020, Don has worked as a full-time mediator and arbitrator in breach of contract and complex commercial disputes, professional liability and fee disputes, insurance coverage and claims disputes, partnership and business combination disputes, government contractor-subcontractor disputes, trademark protection, consumer disputes, and executive and employee discrimination claims and wage and hour disputes.
Don was previously Deputy General Counsel for Litigation and Regulatory Matters for KPMG LLP, a national accounting, tax and professional services firm. Before joining KPMG LLP, he was a litigator with the New York law firm of Chadbourne & Parke .
Don brings 37-years of litigation experience and a unique experience blend to his ADR practice: outside and trial counsel, in-house counsel and litigation manager – and client. As a law firm litigator, in-house litigation counsel, and ultimately as Deputy General Counsel leading KPMG’s in-house Litigation Group, Don was responsible for litigating and resolving, through direct negotiation, mediation or where necessary jury trial or arbitral hearing, more than 100 complex civil claims and government investigations involving a wide array of issues including professional service obligations, commercial and government contracting issues, securities class and common law fraud claims, business competition and intellectual property rights, corporate law and shareholder rights, partnership rights and employee discrimination and wage issues, and other subject matter, with damages ranging from thousands of dollars to more than $1.3 billion.
While responsible for managing KPMG’s litigation portfolio, Don championed that firm’s adoption and adherence to mediation and arbitration provisions in its client and vendor contracts .
