Ms. Quarles is a second career attorney beginning as a prosecutor before establishing her own practice. As a solo practitioner, she defended health care professionals in discipline, licensing and employment matters for 15 years before transitioning her litigation law practice into an Alternative Dispute practice.
As a prosecutor, Ms. Quarles became aware of the trauma to one’s life and livelihood that investigations, disciplinary proceedings and sanctions can cause. That is why Ms. Quarles began speaking publicly to help educate healthcare professionals to avoid the quagmire of the disciplinary process and other legal pitfalls.
Ms. Quarles is equipped with mediation skills that help to resolve disputes at a fraction of the financial and emotional costs of litigation. As a mediator, Ms. Quarles offers participants an experience that provides what they need - evaluation, facilitation, counseling and guidance - towards resolution of their dispute in a civil more peaceful manner.
Colleagues who have sat on panels with her and observed her skills have stated that she actively listens to understand the legal issues as well and the human factors that might have caused the dispute. Ms. Quarles’s past experience makes her uniquely qualified to help resolve disputes in the ADR space: First in sales, advertising and marketing where she successfully handled multi-million dollar accounts and increased business by understanding, balancing and meeting the needs and interests of the corporations for which she worked and the target audiences for each product; second, in law where she began as a prosecutor in securities and healthcare and then as a defense attorney for healthcare professionals whose licenses – and therefore their livelihoods - were on the line.
