ACR-GNY promotes learning and dialogue within the ADR community. This Commercial & Employment Practice Group has been meeting since 2019 and typically meets the 4th Monday of every month from 6pm to 7:15pm on Zoom. The Practice Group is a confidential space where mediators can come together to share puzzling moments and give each other honest feedback.

June’s Topic: Addressing the Interactions of Counsel with the Client and the Interactions of Counsel with Each Other In the Mediation Process 

June’s guest facilitator will be Alfreida B. Kenny. Alfreida Kenny is an experienced arbitrator and mediator. She arbitrates with the AAA and FINRA and mediates privately, as well as pro bono for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, New York County. She has extensive experience in trusts and estates and fiduciary matters and represents clients in estate planning, probate and administrative proceedings and litigation, adult guardianship proceedings, real estate transactions, and commercial litigation.

Learn more about Alfreida B. Kenny, Esq.: Ms. Kenny has extensive experience in trusts and estates and fiduciary matters. She represents clients in estate planning, probate and administration proceedings and litigation, adult guardianship proceedings, real estate transactions, and commercial litigation. Ms. Kenny has been appointed and has served as court evaluator, counsel for the incapacitated person, and guardian of the person and/or property in Article 81 proceedings, as well as guardian ad litem in Surrogate’s Court proceedings. Ms. Kenny gained invaluable experience from her prior positions as an associate at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, Assistant General Counsel at Harper & Row, Publishers, Inc., a founding partner of a boutique law firm, and with the New York City government. 

Ms. Kenny is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association and FINRA. She mediates privately, as well as pro bono for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York and the Alternate Dispute Resolution Program of the Commercial Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York, New York County. 

Ms. Kenny is active in a number of bar associations. She served as a member of the Committee on Trusts, Estates, and Surrogate’s Courts of the New York City Bar. She also served as a member of the New York County Lawyers’ Association’s Estates, Trusts and Surrogate’s Court Practice Section and as Co-Chair of the Trusts and Estates Legislation and Governmental Affairs Committee of the New York County Lawyers’ Association, the Executive Committee of the Trusts and Estates Section of the New York State Bar Association, the Executive Committee of the Elder Law Section of the New York State Bar Association, and the Executive Committee of the Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee of the New York City Bar Association. Ms. Kenny continues to serve as a member of bar association committees, including the Executive Committee of the Dispute Resolution Section of the New York State Bar Association, and the Alternate Dispute Resolution Section of the National Bar Association. 

Ms. Kenny is the author of many articles and a frequent lecturer for bar associations and other continuing legal education programs on issues pertaining to adult guardianship, trusts and estates, and dispute resolution. Ms. Kenny received her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and her law degree from Columbia Law School.
