MEDIATING IN INDIA

PRATHAMESH D. POPAT

The focus of this session will be on mediation in India.  The speaker will provide an overview of the resolutionary avenues (qua the adjudicatory ones) available tn handling disputes in India. Participants will get a closer look at options available for resolving disputes and learn about which might 'fit the fuss', should they need to choose one, from the point of efficiency and efficacy.

Prathamesh D. Popat is a lawyer and mediator based in Mumbai, India.  He serves on several mediators' panels including that of the Bombay High Court and does private as well as court-annexed mediations.

Prathamesh was first trained as a mediator in India and subsequently by LEADR (now Resolution Institute), a prominent dispute resolution organization headquartered in Sydney, Australia. Thereafter, he became an accredited LEADR mediator and an IMI certified mediator.

In addition to mediation  Prathamesh serves as a conciliator, advisor, ADR consultant and trainer. He is often invited to conduct basic and advanced mediation workshops for judicial institutes, law colleges, chambers of commerce, corporate entities and professional bodies.
